The primary goal of the campaign was to increase footfall and sales in Karlsruhe city center. The focus was on attracting customers to the stores through an interactive experience with digital scratchcards and supporting the local economy at the same time.
The idea behind the campaign was the use of the Virtual Booth, combined with a city-wide placement of posters with QR codes. By scanning the codes, users could access the photobooth application on their cell phone and create a personal photo. This could be customized with various overlays and stickers and placed in front of Christmas backgrounds in Karlsruhe city centre using green screen technology.
During the implementation, QR codes were placed throughout the city to guide users to the photo booth experience. After taking their photo, users were able to personalize it and then make it available for download or sharing on social media. The user data was collected through a GDPR-compliant data query and vouchers were sent by email that could be redeemed immediately in local stores. This allowed Karlsruhe city center to effectively generate more traffic and increase sales in the run-up to Christmas.
